Duvets: facing bird flu
Natural duvets, as we said, are made of geese or duck down. These animals like all birds currently have a bad reputation because of the bird flu. But one has to know that control tests are regularly made at duvet manufacturers' in order to ensure the sanitary quality of the down and feathers. Thus, animals are sorted out, and feathers that come from sick birds are not used. Then, feathers and down are washed between 120°C and 130°C, dried and aired. Quality products are usually treated against dust mite and bacteria.
